Sanatorium "Jalal-Abad"
History
The "Jalal-Abad" sanatorium is located in the south of Kyrgyzstan, 5 km from the city of Jalal-Abad at an altitude of 975 meters above sea level. The sanatorium is situated on the hilly foothills of the Syuren-Tyubinsky mountain range, which is part of the Fergana ridge on the western slope of the mountain.
Since ancient times, it has been famous for its healing waters, which were known far beyond the republic. The local population was aware of the mineral springs of Hazret-Ayup-Paygambara as early as the 10th century, since the time of the Mongol invasion. In 1877, Russian geologists visited the Jalal-Abad springs, followed by chemists and doctors from Tashkent and Moscow, who lived nearby in yurts and in the village of Hazret-Ayup, bathing in pits without medical supervision. In 1885, by order of the imperial military department, a sanatorium station with 25 beds was established, along with a hospital, baths, and barracks.
In 1886, the Tashkent Society of Naturalists and Physicians recognized the Jalal-Abad waters as therapeutic, marking 1886 as the official date of recognition of the "Jalal-Abad" resort as a balneological health resort. In 1900, the bathing building "Kyz-Bulak" was constructed, and in 1912, a bathing building with 2 mosque-style pools was built over the "Ayup-Bulak" spring. During the Soviet era, in 1926, a dormitory for 30 people was built, and in 1932, the "Zhany-Bulak" and "Ak-Bulak" pools were constructed. By 1936, a dormitory for 200 people was built. During the Great Patriotic War, the resort was converted into a military hospital. After the war, the "Jalal-Abad" sanatorium continued to develop, and from 1954 to 1963, dormitory No. 2 for 50 people and dormitory No. 3 for 140 people were built. In 1960, a new club and dining room were established.
Since 1973, the "Jalal-Abad" resort has been a specialized health resort primarily treating patients with gastrointestinal diseases. The balneotherapy center also allows for the treatment of musculoskeletal system diseases, kidney and urinary tract diseases, and gynecological conditions. In 1981, the resort acquired a new modern building for the mud therapy center, capable of accommodating 1000 visitors daily, and in 1984, a drinking pump room was built from springs No. 1 and No. 5. All sanatorium buildings are located in a park covering an area of 37 hectares. The vegetation consists of elm trees, poplars, oaks, walnuts, white acacia, maples, chestnuts, thuja, plane trees, junipers, and elms.
For several decades, a large number of people have come here for family vacations aimed at the prevention or treatment of various diseases. This is a true balneological health resort. Here, there are baths of peat mud and sources of healing mineral water ("Kyz-Bulak" and "Ak-Bulak"). Its composition is diverse, including the following types:
Chloride-bicarbonate-sulfate;
Weakly alkaline mineral waters with high silicon acid content (more than thirty milligrams per liter);
Weakly mineralized nitrogen thermal waters;
Magnesium-calcium-sodium.
The advantage of the "Jalal-Abad" sanatorium is its geographical location. It is situated on the slope of the Ayub-Tuu mountain at an altitude of 975 meters above sea level. The region has a mild continental climate, allowing many visitors to come to this resort complex even in winter.
