Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Station
— a hydraulic engineering structure, a run-of-river hydroelectric power station (HPP), built on the Naryn River, 12 kilometers from the city of Uch-Kurgan (Namangan region of Uzbekistan) and two kilometers from the Uch-Kurgan — Tash-Kumyr railway line. This convenient location for constructing the HPP was first selected by engineer Kuznetsov in 1913.On November 30, 1958, the concrete was laid in the building of the Uch-Kurgan HPP.
On January 27, 1959, the river Naryn was dammed during the construction of the Uch-Kurgan HPP.
In 1960, the installation of the first hydro unit at the Uch-Kurgan HPP began.
On October 3-4, 1961, the channel at the Uch-Kurgan HPP was dammed. The reservoir filling began.
On December 30, 1961, the first hydro unit with a capacity of 45,000 kW was put into operation at the Uch-Kurgan HPP.
In May 1962, the Uch-Kurgan HPP reservoir was filled to its maximum level.
On June 3, 1962, the second hydro unit with a capacity of 450,000 kW was put into operation at the Uch-Kurgan HPP.
In September 1962, the third hydro unit with a capacity of 45,000 kW was put into operation at the Uch-Kurgan HPP.
On November 5, 1962, the fourth hydro unit with a capacity of 45,000 kW began operation at the Uch-Kurgan HPP.
On June 24, 1964, the Uch-Kurgan HPP was accepted into permanent operation by the state commission.
