Starting from November 1, 2025, citizens will be able to use the self-restriction function on obtaining loans. This was announced at a press conference on October 30 by the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bektur Aliev.
The activation of this self-restriction will be carried out through the Tunduk application, and its removal will only be possible 12 hours after activation.
According to Aliev, this measure is primarily aimed at protecting citizens from fraud in the online lending sector.
Amendments to the legislation regarding these changes were adopted on July 30, 2025. They imply that the self-restriction will apply not only to banks but also to loans obtained from non-bank financial and credit institutions. These include credit unions, microfinance and microcredit companies, as well as microcredit agencies, according to the regulator's methodology.
The National Bank clarified that if a loan is issued during the period of active restriction, such a contract will be considered legally invalid.
Banks and non-bank financial and credit institutions will be required to check for the presence of self-restriction through credit bureaus.
