The Blues of a Lonely Butterfly

Blues is music that tells about freedom, separation, love... But above all, it is about loneliness... It is lyrics bordering on depression... That is why the play is called "The Blues of a Lonely Butterfly." In the role of the "butterfly," the famous actress from Russia, Natalia Varley, appeared before the audience in Bishkek. The seller of electric toothbrushes appears as a young man in the home of Natalia Varley's character, Anna. Anna, a lonely woman, takes him in to live with her, and later even begins to see him as a potential lover. Anna is accompanied by her maid, Fyokla, who inadvertently observes the unfolding story that transitions into a conflict between Anna and Alexander. Anna often recounts her past – beautiful and wealthy, speaking of the men who were in her life – millionaires, oil magnates, maharajahs.

However, in the second act, an unexpected twist shocks the audience. The seller of electric toothbrushes turns out to be Anna's son, whom she left 29 years ago at an orphanage! Anna does not accept him as her son, and after a tumultuous interaction with his mother, shattering the world she had created in her mind, he ultimately leaves her. When the son abandons his mother in retaliation for the past, Fyokla is right there. She persuades Anna to bequeath her the apartment and helps her "fall asleep" by pouring poison...

The main character created her inner world – a world of a butterfly; it was her attempt to escape from the external aggression of life. The play depicts the complexity of life, culminating in a rupture, where both mother and son become different. The dialogues between mother and son make the audience reflect on life, love, and human relationships. The actors left our viewers moved, and surely many who watched the play found themselves in many of its situations. The actors truly experienced their story on stage with pain, anger, and tears...

PS. Soon, the audience of the Bishkek Russian Drama Theater can expect another surprise – on November 10, the "Art Face" center promises to present the premiere of the play "Grooms" from the Independent Moscow Theater. In the lead role is Denis Rozhkov, better known as the actor who played one of the main roles in the series "Glukhari."
