On January 7, Nurdin Oruntaev, head of the Ministry of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services, visited the construction site of the wastewater treatment facilities in Cholpon-Ata, located in the Issyk-Kul region.

This project is being implemented as part of the program "Environmental Management of Lake Issyk-Kul and Sustainable Tourism Development."

According to representatives of the Ministry of Construction, the minister inspected key construction elements and pumping stations, emphasizing the importance of adhering to schedules and ensuring high quality of work performed.

As part of the project, rebar work is underway at the new sewage treatment station, which will have a capacity of 14,200 cubic meters per day. All earthworks at the 12 pumping stations have been completed, and the project is moving to the next stage of construction.

Upon completion of this project, the centralized sewage system will fully cover the city of Cholpon-Ata, as well as the villages of Bosteri, Baktyu-Dolonotu, and Kara-Oy. All boarding houses, guest houses, and other facilities located in these areas will also be connected. Currently, only 30-40% of Cholpon-Ata residents have access to the sewage system.

Construction work is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

Construction began in July 2025 and is being carried out by the companies China Road and "Alkatash."
