Uzbek authorities promise to allocate funds for the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower project in 2026

President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this.



In 2026, Uzbekistan will begin financing the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower plant in Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The details regarding the amount and terms of financing have not yet been specified. The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan estimated the costs for the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower plant at 4.2 billion US dollars.

In early 2023, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan reached an agreement on the joint construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower plant, which will have a capacity of 1.86 gigawatts on the Naryn River.

As part of the project, Kyrgyzstan's share will be 34%, while Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will each own 33%.

Investors from the European Union have expressed their intention to allocate 2.4 billion dollars for the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower project.
