During the opening ceremony of new energy facilities in Tashkent on December 5, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in the energy sector and the need to form a unified energy market. He recalled initiatives such as the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 and the creation of a "green corridor." An important step will be the installation of solar stations in 300 mahallas, based on China's experience, with the involvement of local residents.

According to the president, Uzbekistan will continue active measures to encourage the population to use alternative energy sources. In 2026, solar stations with a total capacity of 107 MW will be installed in cooperation with local residents, which will provide "green" energy to 30,000 low-income families who will be able to sell excess electricity to the grid.

This year, entrepreneurs built small and micro HPPs with a total capacity of 40 MW, which produced 120 million kWh of electricity, providing additional income. Next year, the construction of another 65 MW of small HPP capacity is planned, which will improve electricity supply for 80,000 households.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also noted that Uzbekistan has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2035 as part of the COP-30 conference in Brazil. In cooperation with the World Bank, the "world's first innovative project" ICRAFT has been launched, which aims to reduce 23 million tons of greenhouse gases and initiate international carbon unit trading.

The president reported that 17 large enterprises have already transitioned to the international certification system for "green" energy, and in the next two years, their number should reach 100.

He emphasized the significance of joint efforts between Uzbekistan and neighboring countries to create a unified energy market. Next year, funding for the Kambarata HPP-1 project will begin in collaboration with Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, which should contribute to the effective use of the region's hydropower potential.

Mirziyoyev also highlighted cooperation with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan within the framework of the "green energy corridor" for exporting electricity to Europe, noting the active steps taken by their governments.

In conclusion, the president noted that the projects being implemented will create new opportunities for future generations and accelerate the development of a modern energy system.

After the speeches of the energy ministers and representatives of partner countries, the president pressed a symbolic button, launching 42 new energy facilities and initiating the construction of another 21 projects.
