The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan reports that Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan have reached an agreement on issues of water and energy cooperation. This decision was made at a meeting held in Almaty under the leadership of Erlan Akkenzhanov, the head of Kazakhstan's energy ministry.

During the meeting, representatives of the three countries discussed the conditions for mutual support in the field of electricity. Considering the difficult situation at the Toktogul Reservoir, the parties agreed to assist each other through electricity supplies and to work together on effectively navigating the heating season, as well as preparing for the upcoming growing season.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan confirmed their readiness to provide electricity to Kyrgyzstan during the autumn-winter season. This will allow the Kyrgyz side to reduce electricity generation during the winter period and increase water reserves in Toktogul. The accumulated resources will be directed to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan during the growing season to ensure stable irrigation in the southern regions.

It was also agreed to take joint measures to reduce energy consumption and increase its efficiency in the region.

As a result of the meeting, a trilateral protocol was signed, which legally formalizes the volumes of winter electricity supplies and water accumulation for the 2026 growing season.
