The Minister of Energy, Talaybek Ibraev, stated that Kyrgyzstan will not face an electricity shortage during the winter period. However, he emphasized the importance of rational resource use.

“As in previous winters, we will purchase electricity from neighboring countries at a price of 3 soms, while it will be supplied to the population at a tariff of 1 som and 37 tyiyns,” Ibraev noted.

The price difference creates a debt on the balance of NESK.

In this regard, the president instructed to minimize import volumes and use energy more economically, as well as to pay off the existing debt of 25 billion soms next year.

“We plan to completely settle our debts next year and achieve profitability,” the minister added.

According to him, by the winter season of 2028-2029, Kyrgyzstan should completely abandon electricity imports,” he concluded.
