The Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Talaybek Ibraev, commented on the criticism from former president Almazbek Atambayev. Atambayev had previously sharply condemned mining and the export of electricity, describing it as an "absurd" decision in the context of resource shortages.
“Atambayev has always been known for his ability to say a lot without taking responsibility for his words. In this, he is unique,” the minister noted. “In light of the current electricity deficit, a decision has been made to completely shut down all mining farms in the country. This issue is under my personal control,” Talaybek Ibraev told 24.kg.
The minister also explained in detail who was involved in mining in Kyrgyzstan, where it was taking place, and what measures are being taken to conserve electricity.
A full exclusive interview with Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev will be published on 24.kg today at 12:00.
