At a press conference, the Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev reported that electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan has increased from 14 billion kilowatt-hours in 2014 to 20 billion kilowatt-hours today.

The minister noted that the number of new subscribers has increased to 30–33 thousand.

“Since 2021, we have observed economic growth, which has led to an increased demand for electricity. The construction of new roads, factories, and shops requires significant amounts of electricity. Also, in many areas, schools are heated with electricity due to the lack of gas. Currently, the process of gasification in the Chui region is underway. New residential areas have received red books, and the population in these areas continues to grow, which leads to an increased demand for electricity,” Ibraev added.
