Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan Agree on Mutual Electricity Supplies

During the official visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov to Pakistan, a meeting took place between the Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Talaybek Ibraev and his Pakistani counterpart Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, a memorandum of understanding regarding energy sector issues was signed during this meeting.

The meeting took place on December 3-4 and was dedicated to deepening bilateral cooperation and implementing joint energy projects.

The ministers discussed important aspects of cooperation, including the exchange of experience in the construction and operation of hydropower plants, the introduction of modern technologies, expanding interaction within the CASA-1000 project, as well as organizing mutual electricity supplies: in summer from Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan, and in winter — vice versa.

Attention was also given to the prospects for developing renewable energy sources and the possibility of joint projects in the field of green energy. During the discussions, the issue of attracting qualified specialists from Pakistan to work on energy projects in Kyrgyzstan was considered.

The memorandum signed by the heads of the energy ministries of both countries is aimed at strengthening energy partnership and creating a foundation for new bilateral initiatives.
