The profile committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with industrial policy, transport, the energy sector, architecture, and construction, approved the bill concerning amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Renewable Energy Sources" in three stages.
Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov emphasized that this bill aims to develop the renewable electricity sector, modernize energy systems, improve the investment climate, and promote sustainable economic growth in the country.
Moreover, the document serves to implement the presidential decree on attracting foreign investments in the green economy.
“Currently, there are a number of restrictions that hinder investment in renewable energy sources. In this regard, the government proposes to establish tariffs in foreign currencies for the implementation of investment projects. This will reduce risks for foreign investors and increase the country's attractiveness for investments. The bill also provides for preferential conditions and the introduction of auction mechanisms for determining tariffs, which will ensure transparent selection and enhance the competitiveness of projects,” the deputy minister added.
