The Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Sydykov, highlighted important projects and measures aimed at supporting the country's economy in an interview with Birinchi Radio on March 25.
Sydykov reported that the government is implementing several major initiatives. In the energy sector, a key project is the construction of the Kambar-Ata Hydroelectric Power Station, and small and medium businesses are actively developing through microgeneration and the launch of small energy facilities.
Regarding the transport and logistics sector, the minister noted that improvements to warehouse infrastructure and the development of railway projects are planned. He added that there are no restrictions for investors, and they can freely implement their initiatives.
The minister also pointed out the presence of anchor investment projects in each direction, which serve as a foundation for further growth in these sectors.
On economic indicators, Sydykov reported that the real growth of the gross domestic product for the past year was 11.1%. Over the past four years, the country's economy has grown on average by 10.2% annually. This year, the authorities plan to maintain such growth rates.
The private sector plays a significant role in the economy. According to preliminary data for 2025, the share of small and medium-sized businesses in GDP has increased to 51%, while in the previous year this figure was 42%.
Additionally, in January, a financing program for small and medium-sized businesses was launched, amounting to approximately 3.7 billion soms, under which two state banks offer preferential loans in the national currency for up to five years at an interest rate of about 6% per annum.
In March, a national platform for the development of small and medium-sized businesses was created, which brings together government agencies, banks, and international organizations. This platform will coordinate support programs, training, decision-making agreements between agencies, as well as develop financial instruments and digital interaction.
The minister emphasized that work in these areas will continue, and the main task remains to achieve strategic goals by 2030.
