The population of this village knows many folk legends related to its name.
Shailoobek Kurbanaliev, the head of the village, shared one such story about the 41st wife of a wealthy man (bai).
“Our village Tamasha has many interesting legends about its name, and one of them concerns a wealthy man who had 40 wives. Later, he took another wife — the 41st. This woman entered into a romantic relationship with a young jigit. When the bai found out about this, he gathered people in an open area. He brought his 41st wife and decided to punish her publicly — he tied her to the tail of a horse. The horse began to drag her along the ground, and the onlookers, witnessing this, thought it was just a joke, exclaiming: ‘What a joke...’ (tamasha means joke). As a result, the woman died. Thus, according to legend, the village got its name Tamasha,” he recounted.
The head of the village also noted that Tamasha is divided into five neighborhoods: Katur, Choku, Dөbө (Kyzylang), Tsentr (Chegitir), and Tumanchy. In each of these neighborhoods, holidays and celebrations are observed in their own way.
Tamasha belongs to the ayil aimak of Orozbekov and has more than 600 households. Local residents are generally engaged in agriculture, including livestock breeding.
The village is located in a mountainous area. Yesterday, March 27, there was a snowfall in Tamasha.
