Oded Yedaya, an Israeli photographer and activist, was attacked by radical settlers in the occupied West Bank. He stated that the level of violence has reached a critical point where "settlers are already trying to kill Jews." These words highlight the growing radicalization, largely supported by the Israeli army.
The incident occurred in Beita, where Yedaya became a victim of an attack by illegal Israeli settlers. In an interview with Haaretz journalists, he noted that violence from settlers has reached such a level that they "even attempted to kill Jews."
The activist pointed out that the stone was thrown at him intentionally, despite the attackers knowing about his Israeli citizenship. According to him, the attackers belonged to the illegal outpost Mevasser Shalom. Yedaya, who has been actively protesting against settler violence since he was 20, emphasized that the situation has significantly worsened in recent years: the number of illegal outposts has increased, settlers have been "allowed to use force," and the army is effectively inactive.
In his opinion, the main goal of the settlers is to displace Palestinians from their villages and seize their lands. They "attack small communities to force people out of their homes" and hold the belief that "God has granted them this land" and "they have a right to violence."
According to UN data, attacks by illegal Israeli settlers have reached a record level in the last two decades. Since October 2023, there have been over 7,150 attacks, resulting in the deaths of 33 Palestinians and the expulsion of 33 communities. The Israeli army is accused of ignoring these attacks, and in some cases even collaborating with the attackers, while Palestinians attempting to defend themselves face harsh repression from the military.
