Comparing the time spent on reading, Kazakhstan also occupies an unfavorable position. On average, each Kazakhstani spends only 65 hours a year reading, which is just over an hour a week. In comparison, in the USA this figure reaches 357 hours, in India — 352, and in Russia — 223 hours. Thus, the time spent reading in Kazakhstan is three to five times less than in the aforementioned countries.
The leaders in the number of books read are the USA with an average of 17 books, India — 16, and the United Kingdom — 15. Russia ranks seventh with 11 books, which is almost four times more than in Kazakhstan.
