At a closed-door meeting, participants discussed a wide range of issues related to both regional and global security. “We had an open exchange of views on all key aspects, and mutual understanding was reached on all agenda items,” said Zaparov. He also added that during Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the CSTO, concrete steps were taken to counter current threats.
The President emphasized that important measures in military and military-technical cooperation were implemented in 2025, including large-scale exercises such as "Rubezh" in Kyrgyzstan and "Nerushimoe Bratstvo" and "Echelon." “These events contributed to the coherence of the actions of the armed forces of the member states and increased their readiness to accomplish the assigned tasks,” he noted.
In addition, Zaparov highlighted the operational interaction of the competent authorities of the CSTO countries in preventing the use of information and communication technologies for terrorist and extremist purposes.
He added that all planned activities of the Organization for 2025 were successfully completed, and relevant priorities for the next year have already been identified.
The chairmanship of the CSTO is being transferred to the Russian Federation, and Vladimir Putin indicated that one of the key priorities will be strengthening cooperation to ensure collective security, as well as developing a new anti-terrorism strategy, information security, and inter-parliamentary interaction.
The leaders of the countries also agreed to hold the next meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council on November 11, 2026, in Russia.
In conclusion of the meeting, Sadyr Zaparov awarded the CSTO Honorary Badge of the I degree to Imangali Tasmagambetov for his significant contribution as the Secretary General of the Organization. Starting in 2026, his position will be taken by Taalatbek Masadykov.
