A special briefing on the promotion of Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for the UN Security Council for 2027-2028 was held at the SCO Secretariat.

On December 10, 2025, in Beijing, at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan, Rahman Adanov, held a special briefing. He informed the permanent representatives of the SCO member states and the staff of the Secretariat about the document signed on November 16 at the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Tashkent. This document contains "An Appeal from the Heads of State of the region to the member states of the UN requesting support for the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for the elections of non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028."

Rahman Adanov noted that this Appeal emphasizes that the nomination of Kyrgyzstan to the UN Security Council reflects the intention of Central Asia to make a significant contribution to maintaining peace and stability on the global stage.

At the same time, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the SCO added that if elected successfully, Kyrgyzstan would become a responsible member of the UN Security Council, actively contributing to global peace, security, and addressing contemporary global challenges.
During the meeting, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the SCO Secretariat, Saidkamol Agzamkhodjaev, also spoke, sharing the outcomes of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia held in Tashkent on November 16, 2025.
