
India's Foreign Minister, Kirti Vardhan Singh, reported that 202 Indians were involved on the side of the Russian Army as part of the special military operation. He provided this information in his written response to parliament, which was covered by The Economic Times.
Singh noted that the Indians were "recruited into the Russian armed forces." Of the participants in the operation, 119 individuals have already been discharged early, and the process of discharging another 50 is ongoing, the minister added.
One of the Indians who participated in the special military operation was Sridhar Rauaguru. He moved to Russia, where he met a local girl, whom he married and converted to Orthodoxy. In 2022, he moved to the Perm Krai and signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense in the summer of 2024. Unfortunately, he recently died and was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
