Bakyt Darmankul uulu, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration, answered journalists' questions regarding the participation of some Kyrgyz citizens in Russia's special military operation in Ukraine.

He noted that among those who decide to participate in the special military operation, there are citizens who have committed serious crimes in Russia. These individuals may view participation in the operation as an alternative to serving their sentences.

“It is important to emphasize that there is no coercion involved. They may be offered such an opportunity, but the decision remains with them. We, along with the staff of the consular service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, are working to protect their rights. As part of this work, we conduct conversations, inform them of their rights, and clarify whether they are experiencing any pressure,” he added.

In addition, he reported that there are currently 69 citizens of Kyrgyzstan in the temporary detention center for foreign nationals in "Sakharovo," and 19 individuals in a similar facility in the Moscow region.
