According to preliminary data, the organizer of this illegal business is a local resident who attracted property owners to cooperate. These individuals offered foreigners fictitious registration at their place of stay and also arranged nominal civil law contracts, which were necessary for extending temporary residence in the country. As a result of such actions, more than 1,500 citizens from Central Asia were legalized in Irkutsk, and over 2,500 fake documents were produced. The prices for the services provided ranged from 1,000 to 5,000 rubles.
As a result of operational activities, six women were detained. During searches, passports of foreign citizens, samples of migration documents and contracts, as well as communication devices and other items relevant to the case were discovered and seized.
Based on the collected evidence, a criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for punishment of up to ten years of imprisonment. For three of the detainees, a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave was chosen, while the others received an obligation to appear as procedural coercion.
Currently, work continues to identify all episodes of illegal activity and possible accomplices.
The documents issued to foreigners illegally will be annulled, and the citizens themselves will be expelled from Russia.
