The service also noted that the status of returnee is granted by a special interdepartmental commission, which includes specialists from various government institutions, including the State Committee for National Security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration. The processing time for applications is three months.
Among the new returnees who received status during the specified period, the following countries of origin are highlighted:
- Uzbekistan — 54 people;
- Tajikistan — 629 people;
- China — 12 people;
- Russia — 7 people;
- Afghanistan — 8 people;
- Other countries — 1 person.
The returnee certificate is issued for three years, during which its holders must apply for citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Individuals with returnee status are entitled to various social benefits, pensions, medical assistance, education, and the opportunity for employment in Kyrgyzstan.
