In 2026, the arrival of 40,000 workers from India to Russia is expected. This was stated by Boris Titov, the special representative of the President of Russia for interaction with international organizations in the field of sustainable development, in an interview with RIA Novosti, as reported by DW.

According to Titov, there has been a significant increase in interest from Russian employers in Indian labor migrants in recent years. This decision is expected to help reduce the labor shortage in the country.

In 2022, approximately 8,000 work permits were issued to Indian citizens, in 2023 this number increased to 14,000, and in 2024, 36,000 are expected. For 2025, the total quota for attracting workers from visa-regulated countries is nearly 235,000 people, of which about 72,000 places are allocated for Indians. Labor migration is very important for India, as it is one of the main sources of foreign currency inflows: forecasts suggest that in 2024, the volume of remittances to the country from abroad will reach 129 billion dollars.
