During the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to New Delhi, scheduled for December 5-6, a new agreement aimed at protecting the rights of Indian labor migrants in Russia may be signed. This was reported by The Economic Times.
Earlier, NDTV and News18 reported on Putin's visit to India, during which he will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, noted that the parties are preparing "a significant package of agreements on various issues".
The meeting of the labor ministers of Russia and India, held in Doha on November 5, served as a platform for discussing labor migration issues, confirming the active dialogue between the two countries.
According to the Russian Ministry of Labor, in 2025, the total quota for foreign workers will be 234,900, of which 71,800 will be allocated for citizens of India. The head of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Andrey Besedin, previously expressed the opinion that up to 1 million migrants from India could arrive in Russia this year; however, this statement was refuted by the agency.
Indian workers typically work in sectors such as construction and textiles. There is also a growing demand for skilled specialists in the fields of engineering and electronics.
