According to the agency's data, a foreign citizen is considered notified of their inclusion in the register from the moment the information is published on the Ministry of Internal Affairs website.
“Information about inclusion in the register becomes known to the citizen from the moment it is posted on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia,” the message specifies.
The ministry emphasizes that many foreigners mistakenly believe that leaving the country and subsequently re-entering can help update their migration status and extend their permitted stay.
For citizens of visa-free countries who do not have grounds for an extension, the maximum stay in Russia is 90 days per year.
“Data on such citizens must be included in the register,” noted the migration service.
It is worth reminding that 15 laws aimed at combating illegal migration have been adopted in Russia, including the creation of a register of individuals prohibited from staying in the country and a mechanism for the deportation of illegal immigrants.
In November of last year, the Russian government approved a resolution “On conducting an experiment to test new rules for the entry and exit of foreign citizens and stateless persons.” Brief instructions in ten languages are available on the "Gosuslugi" portal.
Since February 5, a regime for the deportation of illegal migrants has been introduced in Russia. For foreigners subject to expulsion, inclusion in the register of controlled persons is carried out prior to deportation or until the issue of their legal status in Russia is resolved.
Additionally, starting June 30, all foreigners planning to enter Russia must register through the mobile application “Gosuslugi RuID” and submit an electronic application at least 72 hours before the date of crossing the border. This pilot project aims to improve border crossing procedures and is implemented on a voluntary basis. The RuID application is available for download in the App Store and Google Play.
