In the "Couples" section today, we present Aruuke Kolokoeva, a Kyrgyz girl, and Radamir, a Russian guy, both of whom grew up in Kyrgyzstan.
Aruuke is a native of Bishkek, where she works as an ITF taekwondo coach, specializing in training girls.

“I got married at 19. My husband and I met at training sessions since we were both coaches. He was persistent, meeting me after work and seeing me home,” she recalls.

After Radamir fell in love with Aruuke, he quickly started talking about marriage and informed his parents of his intention to marry.

The wedding ceremony was held according to Kyrgyz customs, including kalym, “ene sutu,” dowry, and wedding baskets, as well as elements of Russian traditions, as Aruuke clarified.

Her husband, named Radamir, is originally from Bishkek and is Russian by nationality, but he has Chechen roots in his blood.
“Despite his appearance, which resembles that of a Russian, in character he has become almost like a Kyrgyz — very polite and open. Our Kyrgyz acquaintances, elders, and sisters really like him,” shares Aruuke.

Radamir accepted Islam, became a Muslim, and regularly attends Friday prayers. He was surprised by Kyrgyz traditions, especially the high cost of kalym for girls from Talas.

Additionally, Radamir became the first world champion in the history of Kyrgyzstan in 2025, representing 45 countries, noted Aruuke.

Besides training, she also dedicates time to studying and household chores. “We have set many goals for ourselves and are now working hard to achieve them,” she added.
