Bermet Valieva, originally from the village of Sapalak-Say located in the Ala-Buka district of the Jalal-Abad region, met her husband, Vladimir, in Moscow, Russia. From the very first moments of their communication, he clearly expressed his intentions, which, as Bermet notes, impressed her greatly.

In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, Bermet shared that she lived in her native village until she was 16, and now resides in Moscow with her family.

She is a civil engineer by education, but is currently on maternity leave. In 2019, Bermet graduated with honors from Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB). “We met at work, as we are both engineers. My husband, Vladimir, born in 1983, is from Vladivostok,” she recounts.

Their romance developed rapidly. “We didn’t date for long because my husband said, ‘A man knows at first glance that he wants to be with the woman he loves,’ so we quickly decided to formalize our relationship,” Bermet recalls.

Bermet talks about how Vladimir expressed his feelings. “On our first meeting, he suggested setting a wedding date, said that he loves me, and doesn’t want to delay the decision,” she shares. She was attracted by his decisiveness and confidence in his words.

Neither side of the family objected to their union.

The wedding ceremony was modest and modern. “We didn’t want to go into debt by inviting 200-300 people. Only about 20 people attended our wedding – parents and close friends,” she specifies.

According to Bermet, life has significantly improved after marriage. “Comments about when I would get married have disappeared, and now I feel immense support from my husband. This is my victory,” she added.

A funny moment occurred after the wedding when Bermet's mother came to Moscow and prepared a rich lamb shorpo. “Everyone was watching my husband’s reaction – how he would respond to his mother-in-law’s dish. He picked up the bowl and drank all the shorpo without stopping. Later he said that, despite its richness, the soup was delicious because it was made by his mother-in-law,” she recounts with a smile.

Bermet notes that her husband is a modern man. “No one insisted on following traditions. From day one, I handle household chores as I see fit. On holidays, I surprise my husband by cooking beshbarmak and pilaf for Eid, and I bake kulich for Easter. If you love someone, you try to accept them with their traditions,” she shares.

In their free time, the family enjoys visiting exhibitions at the Tretyakov Gallery. “Last time, we looked at paintings by Russian artists created during their travels in Central Asia. We also love to relax in nature, where my husband paints while our son and I play and explore the surrounding world,” Bermet says.

She is currently working on her first book. “I want to be a good mother and wife, and in the future, become one of the well-known Kyrgyz writers who will contribute to the creation of happy families,” Bermet concluded.

Bermet Eshmambetova grew up in a large family, where she is the eldest of four children and has three younger brothers.
