According to endocrinologist Bermet Karymshakova from CSM No. 6, there are about 90,000 registered cases of diabetes in Kyrgyzstan. On the air of "Birinchi Radio," she noted that out of this number, 19,000 cases are registered in Bishkek.

Karymshakova emphasized that "diabetes is a disease that is not always addressed immediately, and therefore the figures mentioned represent only a small part of the problem." According to her, the actual number of patients may be significantly higher.

The chronic nature of diabetes is manifested in elevated blood glucose levels. The main symptoms include thirst, dry mouth, frequent urination, changes in weight, deterioration of vision, as well as tingling and burning in the limbs. In elderly people, skin itching may be observed, including in women in the vaginal area. "These manifestations can be quite diverse," the doctor added.

According to classification, more than 90% of cases are type 2 diabetes. "The symptoms of this type of diabetes may be less pronounced, sometimes even absent, which makes regular monitoring of blood glucose levels necessary," Karymshakova concluded.
