She noted that shawarma is a prohibited product for school meals. "If the menu includes salads, they should contain no more than three types of vegetables and be dressed with oil," Kurmanova emphasized.
According to Baktygul Jumagulova, an expert in school medicine, sauces, spices, as well as mayonnaise and ketchup, are unacceptable in children's menus. "All products must be natural, without the addition of spices and flavor enhancers. Salt and sugar should be used in moderation," she added.
Kurmanova also reported that, according to the legislation, specialists from the center have the right to inspect private schools once a year. "This school was registered in 2023 and has been operating for two years. New institutions are not subject to inspections for three years, so we did not have the opportunity to inspect it," she explained.
"We have taken administrative measures; however, the principal also fired the cook and two assistants for including shawarma in the menu," the deputy chief physician added.
