Yulia Ulitina, a psychiatrist, spoke on "Birinchi Radio" about the negative impact of social media on a person's mental state. In her opinion, such platforms foster increased anxiety and depression.

The psychiatrist noted that people often begin to compare their reality with what they see online. "It is important to remember that what we observe on social networks is just a performance. No one shows their true self. Scenarios are played out here, costumes are chosen, and scripts are rehearsed. As a result, while observing this idealized life, many begin to compare themselves, including their bodies," Ulitina explained. This can lead to serious disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

According to the doctor, many people, while watching their idols, start to notice "a couple of extra kilograms" or wrinkles on themselves. This generates a desire for plastic surgery, changes in style, and leads to a sharp increase in anxiety. "Sleep problems, irritability — all of this is a consequence. People begin to isolate themselves from social life and immerse themselves in the internet, which is a serious problem," the psychiatrist added.

As for the time spent online, Ulitina emphasized that it should depend on what a person is doing. For example, watching educational and documentary films can contribute to intellectual development and the formation of new neural connections. At the same time, it is recommended to spend no more than two hours a day on entertainment videos to avoid degradation.
