According to him, Kyrgyzstani citizens will continue to receive burials according to the traditions that exist today. "No one is trying to change this process. Indeed, there is a misunderstanding. We are not affecting anyone. Everything will remain as it was. A new order is needed for people of other faiths or those who prefer cremation. We must create a legal basis for such cases," Bazarbaev noted, adding that there are no crematoriums in the country and no funding for their establishment.
In his opinion, this is a matter of the future, and a legal framework for it is necessary. He emphasized that cremation is an entirely voluntary choice and reiterated that this initiative is aimed at the future.
It is worth noting that for the first time in Kyrgyzstan, a procedure for the operation of crematoriums has been developed. The draft resolution is already available for public discussion.
This project proposes to establish regulations for the operation of crematoriums, which should cover:
- the organization and provision of cremation services;
- the acceptance and processing of bodies for cremation;
- the conduct of the cremation procedure, both planned and emergency;
- the issuance of urns with ashes and the rules for their storage or burial;
- work with anatomical remains subject to cremation;
- keeping records and reporting (cremation registration logs and urn issuance) and other related processes.
