According to the latest data, about 90,000 people suffering from diabetes are registered in Kyrgyzstan, of which 19,000 live in Bishkek. This was reported by endocrinologist Bermet Karymshakova from the Family Medicine Center No. 6 on the air of "Birinchi Radio."

She added that this is only the visible part of the problem, and in reality, the number of patients significantly exceeds the official statistics.

“Diabetes is a widely spread endocrine disease, and we can talk about a real pandemic that is growing at a geometric progression. This chronic condition is characterized by elevated blood glucose levels and can manifest with symptoms such as thirst, dry mouth, frequent urination, weight changes, vision deterioration, as well as tingling and burning in the limbs. In elderly people, skin itching may be observed,” Karymshakova noted.

She also emphasized that more than 90% of all patients suffer from type II diabetes, which often progresses without pronounced symptoms or goes unnoticed at all. This highlights the importance of regular monitoring of blood glucose levels.

It is important to note that November 14 is World Diabetes Day. On this day in Bishkek, at the "Asia Mall" shopping center, a diagnostic event will take place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Everyone will have the opportunity to measure their blood glucose levels and blood pressure, as well as receive consultations from specialist doctors, including endocrinologists, cardiologists, gastroenterologists, and gerontologists.
