The rider from the village of Baizak in the Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region, Munara Mustapaeva, started riding horses at high speed at the age of 12.

Munara was born in 2001 in the village of Birlik in the Tyup district. She got married in the village of Baizak.

“I sell cosmetics. I am in my 4th year at the Karakol University named after Kasym Tynystanov, majoring in history teaching.

I learned to ride a horse with my father. I have been used to horseback riding since childhood. My father and brother are ulakchy [players in kok-boru/goat dragging]. I was close to my father.

Before, I rode slowly and smoothly. Riding a horse is easy for me. My acquaintances and those who see me for the first time are surprised that I am not afraid.

I participated in major competitions for the first time at the age of 16 at a large toy (celebration) in Karkyra, where I competed in tug-of-war and took part in kız kuumai [the horseback game “catch the girl”]. I won prize places. Now, if there are toys, I go and participate,” she shared.

M. Mustapaeva mentioned that she lives with her father-in-law and mother-in-law. They support her and provide all kinds of help and support.

“My husband was initially against it. But now, on the contrary, he is preparing his dear horse for me, which he himself plays ulak on.

In my free time, I take care of the children, do household chores, and ride,” she said.

Munara is the middle child of five: three girls and two boys. She and her husband have two children: a girl and a boy. Her husband has three siblings: two brothers and a sister.

“In the future, I have many goals: to be happy, to have an exemplary family, and to achieve many successes in horseback riding,” she said.
