Sydykbekov Tugelbay (1912-2000),
People's Writer of the Kyrgyz Republic, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR, Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic
Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Tyup, Tyup District, Issyk-Kul Region.
Graduated from the Frunze Agricultural Technical School and the Ashgabat Central Asian Zooveterinary Institute (1931).
In his numerous publications, he pays special attention to the study of the epic "Manas," the history of the Kyrgyz people, and is the author of the historical novel "Kok Asaba," as well as scientific and journalistic articles, being one of the editors of the unified version of the epic "Manas."
His artistic works have been translated into many languages of the world.
Awarded the Orders of Lenin, the Red Banner of Labor, Friendship of Peoples, and various medals.
An international society "Tugelbay-Ata" has been established in Bishkek.
