Hollywood actor registered a personal brand due to AI

Matthew McConaughey, the Oscar-winning actor for his role in "Dallas Buyers Club," has decided to register a trademark for his voice and image. This step has become necessary to prevent their unauthorized use in projects related to artificial intelligence, as reported by the BBC.

According to information from The Wall Street Journal, documents have been filed with the U.S. Patent Office concerning elements from the film "Dazed and Confused" (1993), including its iconic line "All right, all right, all right." This is the first registered case where an actor is seeking trademark rights to protect his image from technological threats.

McConaughey noted that his intention is to establish clear boundaries for the use of his image and voice, emphasizing the importance of consent and copyright in the age of AI.

Experts warn that with the development of AI technologies, new risks arise for celebrities, including potential reputational losses and decreased licensing revenues. Previously, such issues have already affected Scarlett Johansson and Taylor Swift, who faced fake images and voices created by AI.
