U.S. President Donald Trump has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, presented to him by María Corina Machado, the leader of the Venezuelan opposition. This was reported by DW.
On January 15, a meeting took place at the White House between Trump and Machado.
The opposition leader, who herself became a Nobel Peace Prize laureate last year, presented the award to the American president with the phrase: "in recognition of his unique commitment to our freedom."
Trump announced the receipt of the award on his social network Truth Social, noting: "María presented me with the Nobel Peace Prize for my work. A wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you, María!"
It is important to note that the Norwegian Nobel Institute, responsible for awarding the prizes, clarified that the laureate is not allowed to transfer the award to another person, divide it, or refuse it.
