According to The Washington Post, Donald Trump did not support Maria Corina Machado, the leader of the Venezuelan opposition, because she did not renounce the Nobel Peace Prize in his favor. A source close to the White House administration shared this information with the newspaper.

According to the source, although Machado dedicated the award to Trump, her decision to accept the prize became a "greatest sin." He added: "If she had said, 'I cannot accept it because it belongs to Donald Trump,' she could be the president of Venezuela today."

At a press conference discussing Nicolás Maduro's takeover and the attack on Venezuela, Trump expressed doubts about Machado's ability to become the country's leader. He described her as a "nice woman," but emphasized that she has "no support and respect" within the country. Machado's associates were surprised by Trump's statements.
