According to CNN, Maduro and Flores were evacuated from Venezuela on the American aircraft carrier "Iwo Jima." On the evening of January 3, they arrived at Stewart Air Force Base in New York on an FBI plane. They were then transported by helicopter to the headquarters of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Manhattan, where the couple underwent biometric data collection.

After that, they were placed in a federal detention center in Brooklyn. The White House released a video showing Maduro in handcuffs walking down a corridor under the guard of DEA agents, saying in English: "Good evening. Happy New Year."

According to NBC News, on January 5, Maduro and Flores may appear in court in New York.

Recall that on the night of January 3, the U.S. conducted a military operation in Venezuela, resulting in President Nicolás Maduro and his wife being captured and taken out of the country. The U.S. Department of Justice charged them with conspiracy to commit "narcoterrorism," importing cocaine, and possessing weapons and explosives for use against the United States.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, previously stated that his country would control Venezuela until power is transferred lawfully.
