Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced a state of emergency in the country in response to attacks carried out by the United States on military facilities.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto characterized the actions of the U.S. as "military aggression." He stated that the aim of the attack is to seize the country's resources, including oil and minerals, as well as to undermine its political independence.

According to information from CBS News, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered strikes on various targets within Venezuelan territory, including military objectives.

It was previously reported that explosions were heard in Caracas on Saturday night. Journalists from international news agencies reported a series of airstrikes on the capital of Venezuela.

In early September 2025, Trump sent eight warships to the southern Caribbean Sea, explaining this move as a necessity to combat drug trafficking. Maduro called the actions of the U.S. a "hostile siege" and appealed to the UN for assistance in protecting the country's sovereignty. In response, Trump confirmed that a Venezuelan drug boat had been sunk by American military forces in the Caribbean Sea and ordered the cessation of all diplomatic contacts with Venezuela. He also stated that the U.S. would continue to combat drug trafficking beyond its borders without needing to obtain permission from Congress.
