Volodymyr Zelensky
Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, has proposed a ceasefire during the presidential elections in the country. This initiative is supported by the United States, which Zelensky mentioned during his online presentation on December 11 as part of the "coalition of the willing." A recording of this speech is available on his social media via the link.

Zelensky noted that he is open to cooperation with President Trump in various formats. He emphasized that Ukraine does not shy away from democratic processes: "If Trump raises the issue of elections in Ukraine, we are ready to hold them wherever possible."

The President added that security is crucial for the implementation of elections, and "America can provide the greatest assistance in this matter."

"If elections need to be held, then a ceasefire must be declared, at least during the voting period. This is a matter that should be discussed. We in Ukraine believe that the U.S. should initiate a conversation with Russia on this issue," Zelensky stated.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, noted in an interview with Politico on December 9 that "the time has come" to organize presidential elections in Ukraine. On the same day, Zelensky reported his readiness to conduct elections within 60-90 days, provided that security is ensured by the U.S. and Europe.

It should be noted that Ukrainian legislation prohibits holding elections, including presidential ones, under martial law. Due to the ongoing military actions in the country, the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, scheduled for 2023, have been canceled, as have the presidential elections that were supposed to take place in 2024.
