This statement was made by Trump during a conversation with journalists before the award ceremony at the Kennedy Center, as reported by The Hill. It is unclear whether he is referring to a new peace plan or a previously known proposal. “I’m a little disappointed that President Zelensky has not yet familiarized himself with the [peace] proposal — it was a few hours ago. His team liked it, but he did not,” Trump noted. In his opinion, Russia “would prefer to take the whole country,” but is willing to consider the terms of the peace plan. “I understand that Russia agrees [to the US peace plan], but I’m not sure it will suit Zelensky,” Trump added. On December 6, Zelensky reported on a “long and substantive” conversation with Steven Witkoff, the US president's special envoy, as well as with Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law. During the discussion, they touched on “key aspects that could guarantee the end of conflicts and eliminate the threat of a third Russian invasion.” Zelensky also expressed his expectation to receive a detailed report from Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security Council, and Andrey Gnatov, the Chief of the General Staff, about the negotiations with the American side. They had previously met with a US delegation in Florida. In early December, Kushner and Witkoff also met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The Kremlin reported that some agreements were reached during the meeting, while other points were deemed unacceptable, which is part of the normal negotiation process.
