Negotiations between Russia and the United States on a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine took place in the Kremlin and lasted nearly five hours, concluding after midnight on December 3, Moscow time, as reported by some media outlets.

Participants from the Russian side included President Vladimir Putin, his assistant Yuri Ushakov, and special representative Kirill Dmitriev. The United States was represented at the meeting in Moscow by Steve Witkoff, the president's special envoy, and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of Donald Trump.

At the end of the negotiations, Yuri Ushakov reported that various options of the American plan for ending the conflict were discussed. He noted that Russia received four new documents in addition to the initial peace proposal from the U.S. Putin expressed a "critical and even negative" attitude towards some aspects of Washington's proposals, adding that "territorial issues" were considered separately.

“At this moment, no compromise has been reached. Some ideas from the American proposals seem more or less acceptable, but they need to be discussed. Certain formulations do not suit us, so work will continue,” Ushakov's words are quoted by the Kremlin's website.

Despite the lack of clear results, Ushakov characterized the meeting as "useful, constructive, and substantive." In response to journalists' questions about whether the parties had moved closer to peace, he noted: “I cannot say that this has happened. But ahead of us lies a lot of work both in Washington and in Moscow.”

Ushakov also added that the negotiations were conducted in an "absolutely closed, secret" format, and the details of the discussions will not be disclosed. After the meeting, U.S. representatives will inform Trump of the results and will likely then contact Moscow for further discussions.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated in his Telegram channel that he does not expect easy solutions to end the war and is awaiting the reaction of the American delegation after their negotiations in Russia.
