Reuters: The USA is preparing to begin a new phase of operations against Venezuela
Sources claim that President Donald Trump intends to use all available means to combat drug trafficking and hold those responsible accountable.
Over the past two months, the U.S. has actively deployed military forces in the Caribbean Sea, destroying boats that they believe were involved in drug transportation. Washington views these actions as part of the fight against transnational crime.
Relations between Caracas and Washington have significantly deteriorated recently. The White House has also authorized the CIA to conduct secret operations aimed at destabilizing Maduro's regime, accusing Venezuelan authorities of using terrorist groups to organize drug trafficking into the U.S.
Last week, a U.S. Navy strike group led by the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford entered the waters of the Caribbean Sea, carrying about four thousand military personnel and numerous tactical aircraft.
