Caracas has refuted Trump's accusations regarding the U.S. desire to control the country's natural resources and announced its intention to raise this issue on the international stage. This is stated in an official statement from the Venezuelan government.

In a communiqué published by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, it is emphasized that Venezuela acts in accordance with international law and its own legislation. The document asserts that the country reaffirms its sovereignty over all resources, and any external claims to them are deemed unacceptable and contrary to the fundamental principles of international interaction.

Earlier, Trump characterized the Venezuelan government as a "foreign terrorist organization" and ordered the blocking of oil tankers under sanctions heading to or leaving the country. He justified his decision with accusations of terrorism, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.

Trump also announced plans to increase military presence around Venezuela, warning of an "unprecedented shock" that awaits the country until, according to him, Caracas returns oil, land, and other assets to the U.S. The American president accused Venezuelan authorities of using oil revenues to finance criminal activities.

In response to these actions, the United States is strengthening its military presence in the Caribbean Sea and striking Venezuelan vessels, claiming it is necessary to combat drug trafficking. According to U.S. authorities, by mid-November, about 15,000 American troops were in the region.

At the end of November, Trump also announced the closure of airspace over Venezuela and stated the possibility of ground strikes against drug cartel targets in the country, declaring that "Maduro's days are numbered."
