U.S. authorities have suspended the consideration of all asylum applications

The authorities in the United States have decided to suspend the consideration of all asylum applications until maximum verification of each foreigner is ensured. Additionally, the issuance of visas for citizens of Afghanistan will be temporarily halted.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has decided to stop processing all asylum petitions following a tragic incident in Washington, in which a National Guard member was killed. The suspect in this crime is a migrant from Afghanistan. This decision was announced on Saturday, November 29, by USCIS head Joseph Edlow through his page on the social network X.

Edlow emphasized: “USCIS has suspended decisions on all asylum applications until we can ensure the maximum possible verification and screening of each foreigner.” Shortly after this, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that visas for “all individuals traveling on Afghan passports” will also be suspended.
On the eve of Thanksgiving, President Donald Trump posted a message on the social network Truth Social, stating that the country’s immigration policy has “worsened the living conditions of many” Americans and announced his intention to “permanently suspend immigration from all third-world countries.”

Furthermore, Trump expressed the need to deport “everyone who is not a net positive for the U.S. and cannot love our country,” as well as to revoke the citizenship of migrants who “undermine domestic order” and to deport those who are a “burden on society, threaten security, or are incompatible with Western civilization.”

Just hours before this, Edlow reported on Trump’s order to conduct a “full-scale and thorough review of green cards” for all migrants from countries of concern. This list includes 19 countries, including Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, and Somalia.
