Since March 13, 2023, the acceptance of applications for obtaining the status of compatriots with foreign citizenship through the automated system "Meken-card" has started in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the agency's information, since the beginning of the application acceptance, 403 petitions have been submitted, of which 358 were approved and 9 were rejected. The leading positions in the number of submitted and issued cards are held by Russia (64 submitted, 90 issued), Turkmenistan (9 submitted, 10 issued), and Germany (5 submitted, 10 issued). In addition, "Meken-cards" have been issued to citizens of countries such as Austria, Belarus, Turkey, Jordan, the USA, Ukraine, Italy, Korea, and the Netherlands," the message notes.
The "Meken-card" is valid for 10 years. The consideration of petitions is carried out within three months in the general procedure and 1.5 months in the simplified procedure. The process of renouncing citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic for compatriots takes no more than six months.
Foreign citizens who were previously citizens of Kyrgyzstan, as well as their children and grandchildren, except for citizens of neighboring countries, have the right to obtain a "Meken-card." Applications can be submitted both within Kyrgyzstan at territorial subdivisions or public service centers, and abroad at Kyrgyz diplomatic missions.
