On the night of January 3, explosions were heard in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. This has been reported by agencies such as Associated Press and Reuters.

According to media reports, planes flying at low altitude were spotted in the sky over the city, and at least one smoking object was observed. In the southern part of Caracas, near a major military base, a power outage occurred. According to Associated Press, at least seven explosions were recorded. Venezuelan officials have not yet commented on the incident.

As reported by CNN, the first explosion occurred around 01:50 local time (11:50 in Bishkek). "One of the explosions was so powerful that the windows shook," said correspondent Osmarri Hernandez.

Additionally, CBS News journalist Jennifer Jacobs, citing sources in the U.S. government, reports that President Donald Trump has ordered strikes on targets in Venezuela, including military installations. However, this information has not yet been confirmed by official representatives of the Pentagon and the White House.

Venezuela has accused the U.S. of aggression. This statement was made by the country's Foreign Minister Ivan Gil.

"The goal of this attack is to seize Venezuela's strategic resources, including oil and minerals, as well as to attempt to violently undermine the political independence of the country. They will not succeed," the official statement reads.

A state of emergency has been declared in the country.

Previously, Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed the possibility of conducting a military operation in Venezuela to pressure Nicolás Maduro's regime for its overthrow.
