According to Pam Bondi, Maduro and Flores are accused of organizing "narcoterrorism," smuggling cocaine into the U.S., as well as illegal possession of weapons and explosives with the intent to direct them against the United States. These charges were filed in the federal court for the Southern District of New York.

Bondi also emphasized that "they will soon appear before American courts on U.S. territory."

As reported by The New York Times, back in 2020, Maduro was charged with corruption and drug trafficking, after which the U.S. State Department offered a reward of $50 million for information leading to his capture.

Furthermore, ABC News reports that Maduro is already being flown to New York. However, details about his place of detention have not yet been disclosed. Typically, defendants whose cases are heard in federal court in Manhattan are placed in a detention center in Brooklyn.
