Four firearms, including rifles and shotguns, were found at the scene of the incident, and two more were discovered during a search of their residence. Sajid Akram had held a license to acquire firearms for nearly ten years.
Additionally, it is reported that Navid Akram was already under surveillance by the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) due to suspicions of possible links to terrorist groups. He had been under investigation for six months but was released as investigators found no signs of violent intentions.
The incident in question occurred at Bondi beach during the celebration of Hanukkah. As a result of the shooting, 16 people were killed, and 38 were injured, 29 of whom were hospitalized.
